DCU Expo 2023 Final Year Projects
55 87. KMG40: Brain Tumor Segmentation inMRI Imagery The objective of this project was to train a variety of state-of-the-art deep neural networks for semantic segmentation on medical imagery, such as MRI scans of brain tissue. Each pixel was classified into tumor or non-tumor categories to detect and segment the tumors utilising the openMRI brain tumor dataset, BraTS 2021. The most accurate model was determined by experimenting with different techniques of data augmentation, meticulously testing each individual model, and providing a comprehensive comparison of results for the best version of each network. Class Electronic and Computer Engineering Project Area Deep Learning Project Technology Python Student Name(s) Isobel Fox Email isobel.fox4@mail.dcu.ie Supervisor Dr KevinMcGuinness 88. CrypTic This is a web-application that scrapes datamainly fromReddit and Facebook so we can sentiment data about mainly Bitcoin so our users can see what other users of those platforms are saying. We are also developing amodel using time series to predict the prices of Bitcoin. Class Computer Applications Project Area Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, Web Application Project Technology CSS, Excel/VB, HTML5, JavaScript, MySQL, Nodejs, Python, React.js, Machine Learning Student Name(s) SuhybMohammed Email suhyb.mohammed4@mail.dcu.ie Supervisor Dr GeoffHamilton 89. TS59 – Shooting Rig This project utilises infrared (IR) light emitters and sensors to detect when a target has been hit by a “laser” rifle operated by the player. The project involves incorporating a range of engineering skills, including computer-aided design, electronics engineering and computer programming. The system was programmed using an Arduinomega board and using the analog input pins to constantly monitor the levels of IR light being picked up by the sensors and switch “active” targets, choosing a random target to become active after every hit and continuing until the score limit is reached. Class Mechatronic Engineering Project Area 3-DModelling, Arduino, Embedded Systems, Optical Communications, Sensor Data, Sensor Technology, Software Development Project Technology C/C++, Solidworks Student Name(s) John Reynolds Email john.reynolds24@mail.dcu.ie Supervisor Dr Tamas Szecsi
