DCU Expo 2023 Final Year Projects

68 126. A.I. Assisted Image Browser This project involves the creation of an image browser to be used to navigate large, unsorted image datasets. This is achieved with the use of existing pre-trained deep neural networks which extract semantically meaningful representations of the images which are clustered using dimensionality reduction techniques. These are then rendered using JavaScript libraries. Class Electronic and Computer Engineering Project Area Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Web Application Project Technology CSS, HTML5, JavaScript, Python, Machine Learning Student Name(s) Daniel Fagan Email daniel.fagan23@mail.dcu.ie Supervisor Dr KevinMcGuinness 127. Finite Element Analysis on Callus Formation during Bone Fracture Healing The project recreates a bone fracture model based on previous work to gain validity. The model consists of a 2D section of a long bone that has a transverse fracture and shows each of the healing phases – inflammation, reparation and remodelling. The thesis requires the use of SolidWorks to create the model, AnsysWorkbench tomodel the finite element principles and examine certain parameters. Once validity is established, the model is modified to enable a 4-point bending test and deformation, and strain in the x and y-axis are examined. The results concur with other research and support that load-bearing treatment is beneficial in the reparation and remodelling phases as this is when the callus is hardened, enabling it to withstand the force of the load. Class Biomedical Engineering (Year 4) Project Area 3-DModelling, Biomedical Engineering, Finite Element Analysis, Motion Analysis, Simulation Project Technology ANSYSWorkbench, Solidworks Student Name(s) Danail Tsanov Email danail.tsanov2@mail.dcu.ie Supervisor Dr BryanMacDonald 128. Atmosphere Analytics This project aims to provide analytics for users who possess amedical condition with respect to atmospheric anomalies through the utilization of a PWA. For the first development phase, this project has focused on air pollution for people who suffer from respiratory conditions and would like to examine the status of the air quality and how it affects them. The project will notify and provide such users with an answerable questionnaire when the air pollution value near a specific user has reached a fixed threshold. Class Computer Applications Project Area Cloud Computing, Cryptography, Data Analytics, Databases, Distributed Systems, GPS/GIS, Information Retrieval, Internet of Things, Mobile App, Network Applications, Security, Sensor Data, Sensor Technology, Software Development, Statistical Analysis, Web Application, PWA Project Technology MongoDB, REST, InfluxDB, NestJS, NextJS, Telegraf, Starlark, TailwindCSS Student Name(s) EricMcEvoy  |  Abasse Camara Email eric.mcevoy23@mail.dcu.ie   |  abasse.camara2@mail.dcu.ie Supervisor Prof TomasWard
