The Production of Different Levels of Surface Roughness Suitable for Multiple Biomedical Applications This project is based on the production of different levels of surface roughness for materials used for biomedical applications. Laser polishing is a prominent post-processing technique used to combat the rough surface finish of 3D printedmaterials used for biomedical applications today. A rough surface finish can lead to bacterial growth and cause implant failure. This study aims to investigate the processing parameters surrounding laser polishing, studying their effects and possible optimization to improve this technique for the biomedical industry. Class Biomedical Engineering (Year 4) Project Area AdditiveManufacturing, AdvancedMaterial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Design andManufacture Project Technology Digital Microscopy, Laser Polishing, SurfaceMetrology and Analysis Student Name(s) Luke JosephMcCann Email luke.mccann9@mail.dcu.ie Supervisor Dr Muhannad Obeidi 167. JuicEV Journey User Interface for Charging Efficiently – Android App to calculate optimal journey routes via the EV charging network, checking and booking charge times en route. The UI displays an interactive map of the route with relevant information relating to availability and distance to chargers within the current range. JuicEV connects with the car to collect driving stats and remaining range. It calculates all options for charging points, checks availability at estimated arrival times, and ensures the charge received will complete the journey. Class Computer Applications Project Area Android, Automotive Technology, Cloud Computing, Databases, Energy Conservation, GPS/GIS, Information Retrieval, Mobile App, Renewable Energy Technology, Software Development, Intell Transport System, Human-computer Interaction Project Technology Java, NoSQL, REST, SQL, SQLite, XML, Firebase and Firestore Student Name(s) Conor O’Hara | Michael Clancy Email conor.ohara23@mail.dcu.ie | michael.clancy22@mail.dcu.ie Supervisor Dr AlessandraMileo and Dr James Carton
