DCU Expo 2024 - Final Year Projects
40 30. FindMy Item This project proposes an IoT environmental and locational monitoring system for cold chain logistics during the last-mile delivery process. The device is designed to use an Arduino Uno, an Air530z GPS module, a LoRa-WAN E5 868MHz Radio, a Triple Axis Accelerometer, and a DHT20 humidity and temperature sensor. The device sends data from the LoRa-WAN radio to a server, which can be viewed by the sender and/or the recipient. By completing successful trials in multiple environments, this project provides proof of concept to address a niche in the pharmaceutical industry where the current ineffective environmental controls can result in significant financial losses and potential risks to patient safety. Student Programme Electronic and Computer Engineering Project Area Arduino, Broadcast Software, Device Design, Distributed Systems, Embedded Systems, GPS/GIS, Information Retrieval, Internet of Things, Sensor Data, Sensor Technology, Wireless Technology, Logistics Project Technology C/C++, JavaScript, Matlab, The Things Network Student Name(s) Kirsten Lee Email kirsten.lee23@mail.dcu.ie Supervisor Dr Leah Ridgway 31. InterviewWise This project intends to have an AI chatbot that conducts practice job interviews with users. The user will communicate with the chatbot through speech, and the chatbot will reply to the user in audio. This will ensure that the user is receiving the most realistic practice available to them. The chatbot will be integrated into a web application tomake the project more user-friendly. The users are given a rating indicating how they performed in the interview, along with tips on how they can improve for future interviews. The project intends to help users reduce preparation time, increase the accuracy of their responses, and be more confident in their abilities during interviews. Student Programme Enterprise Computing Project Area Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Natural Language Processing, Simulation, Speech Recognition, Web Application, Human-computer Interaction Project Technology CSS, HTML5, Java, JavaScript, Nodejs, Python, React.js Student Name(s) Conn Byrne | Patrick Dinan Email conn.byrne326@mail.dcu.ie | patrick.dinan3@mail.dcu.ie Supervisor Dr Hossein Javidnia 32. ACustomProject of aMarine Automatic Identification SystemUsingOpen-Source Software, Raspberry Pi, and an Antenna Kit as a Cost-Effective Alternative The project presents a customAutomatic Identification System (AIS) for marine vessels using a Raspberry pi computer with theMaiana base antenna kit. It offers a cost-effective solution by leveraging open-source software like OpenPlotter, which includes the free chart plotting software OpenCPN. The overall goal was to create and design a system that has the capability to performas an off the shelf product by receiving and transmitting Static, Dynamic and Voyage information between vessels and shore stations. By combining these components, the project ensures efficient vessel tracking and navigation without the need for expensive equipment and systems, making it an accessible and practical option for maritime enthusiasts and professionals alike.
