Augmented Reality andDigital Twins Augmented Reality (AR) and digital twins are of increasing interest for the training and support of operators in amanufacturing environment. Whilst hardware exists (e.g., Microsoft HoloLens 2), there are challenges in creating the software environments/digital twins. In this project, towards virtualisation of laboratories, freely available animation software (e.g., Unity, Blender) will be used to create a digital twin of the ‘Ball-in-a-Tube’ test-rig used in Fundamentals of Control. The AR learning environment will be evaluated in relation to practical comprehension for users and an innovative and engaging educational experience. AI Language Teacher AI can be applied in education to increase the engagement and efficiency of students’ learning. ConvoLang allows users to converse with an AI chatbot powered by a variety of LLMs to enhance their foreign language speaking skills. The conversations are spoken, allowing users to improve their oral and aural skills and overcome the fear of speaking in a foreign language. The user speaks to the bot and it responds in a life-like voice. The application is tailored towards secondary schools, providing a task-based homework system. Teachers can create tasks for their pupils that align with the material covered in class, allowing pupils to learn course material efficiently and engagingly.
