DCU Expo 2024 - Final Year Projects
75 135. Self-Driving SystemVia GTAV The GTA V Self-Driving System leverages vision computing and AI algorithms tomake real-time decisions while navigating the game environment. This project delves into the integration of advanced computer vision techniques to interpret in-game visuals, enabling AI to perceive and understand its surroundings. By employingmachine learning and decision-making algorithms, the systemautonomously assesses road conditions, identifies obstacles, and calculates optimal routes. PlasticWeldingUsingNichromeWire This project investigates the feasibility of eliminating the need for adhesives to join two pieces of PMMA plastic. This problem is particularly evident in the bonding of microfluidic devices. The adhesive used in this field could be a source of contamination for the sample. This project uses thin Nichrome wire of 320 microns in diameter to locally weld the PMMA plastic using direct ohmic heating. The samples were placed in a jig and a current passed through the Nichrome, securely bonding the PMMA, embedding the wire. The temperature of the Nichrome wire must reach aminimumof 160° Celsius to ensure plastic welding occurs. A tensile test was used to demonstrate the effectiveness of this experiment, as well as an examination of the weld patterns under microscope. Reading Tracker This app allows users to keep track of their reading progress, maintain their collection of books and overall, get the most out of their reading time. The Android component of this project aids in better remembering the material froma book with the help of saved quotes and an “Explain This” feature that incorporates ChatGPT. It helps to elaborate on and explain terms, phrases, and sentences a user might come across while reading.
