2025 OUTCOME The IBO is an industry leader, providing opportunities for people of all ages to learn about historical performance both through digital resources and in person. The development of the HIP scene in Ireland is supported through a better-informed audience and expanded performance output, as more players advance their training through the opportunities on offer. PRIORITY INITIATIVES As an incubator for talent, nurturing the next generation of professionals ▶ Support Apprentices through their transition into the profession, with individual mentoring and lessons from IBO players offered alongside access to resources. ▶ Broaden the Apprentice Scheme to include one player in each string section of the IBO annually. ▶ Expand the Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra membership to include wind and brass and players. ▶ Establish an intermediate version of the Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra to bridge the gap between first steps on period instruments and professional level playing. ▶ Work with students at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in an annual side by side project, promoting collaborative and creative exchange. ▶ Develop opportunities for students to try period woodwind instruments, in partnership with the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras. ▶ Set up a ‘Handel Singing Competition’ as part of Dublin HandelFest, to offer a platform to student singers engaging with HIP, as well as the opportunity to perform with a professional orchestra. ▶ Work in partnership with the Royal Irish Academy of Music to create a new generation of natural trumpeters in Ireland, to fill an existing skills gap nationally. As an education provider for all ▶ Integrate workshop content into our regional festival partnerships, delivering meaningful educational content to spark interest in new audiences. ▶ Deliver a series of lecture recitals, in conjunction with our presence in the NCH to illuminate the research and ideas behind the orchestra’s output.
